INCLUDES FREE SUPPORT & 60-DAY FREE RETURN / REPAIR / EXCHANGE!!** With a full metal chassis and two huge transformers, the 4160C from Rauland-Borg Corp. weighs in at over 33 lbs! This is their solid-state follow-up to their incredibly popular Model 2135 which are often converted to guitar amps with impressive results!Due to the rarity of this model documentation was impossible to find, but we assume it was made in the late ’60’s. If we assume the common practice for the model number to reflect the inputs & output power, then perhaps the “4” is for the four inputs and the “60” is the output power in watts? It has a plethora of input, output and mixing options, accepting up to four Balanced XLR mic inputs and three RCA Phono inputs all individually controlled through the front panel. It also has the VC-4391 It has multiple mono output options, from 8 to 16 ohms and constant-voltage 25 or 70V outputs for use in a wide range of commercial applications. It also has open slots for adding additional modules including an FM receiver. As seen in the “nudie” pics, this is a fully solid-state amp. The sockets in the upper-right corner are for plugging in more input expansion modules.The back panel also has switches for output impedance, a Voice Filter and a “Trumpet Protect” switch that we assume has to do with using the old horn type speakers with folded air columns that were called “Trumpets.” There’s also an AC outlet and user-access to the power fuse. It weighs in at just over 33 lbs and measures 12-1/8″ x 7-1/4″ x 20″ wide including the handles. By “The Best, Ltd.” policy this amp will be double-boxed for secure shipment. Condition:This rare amp is in “Good” condition with some signs of use and a nice, clean front panel! Aside from some scuffing and some discoloration to the cabinet and an area where a previous etching was removed along the top edge as seen in the pics, there are a few scratches to the front panel, some too faint to make out in the pics. All the original knobs are present and complete as are the attached feet and AC Cord. The manual has gone missing and due to it’s rarity we were not able to find one online. But no worries, if you have any questions or concerns just use our Free Support and we’ll be glad to help! Please inspect all the pictures thoroughly for actual condition. Service: On inspection, this unit worked fine with a little distortion while adjusting the volume so it went to our tech for servicing. The pots were cleaned internally with Specialist Contact Cleaner (proven superior to DeoxIT by our customers). While open, all electrolytic caps were inspected for bulging or leakage and all PC boards were inspected with all questionable solder joints re-flowed. The main power supply caps were questionable, so those electrolytics were upgraded to brand new, high-quality caps, no used or NOS parts were used. It’s this kind of thoughtful, preventative servicing that makes it smart to buy from a company with an experienced, in-house technician.Note: There are other caps that some might want to upgrade, but as the caps chosen would be specific to how the amp will be used, we will leave that decision up to the lucky new owner.Testing:This amp was set up on our test bench and it pumped out clear, distortion-free audio from all outputs with no hum or buzz. All inputs and outputs were confirmed working as expected. Further testing was performed, if there is a particular function you would like to know more about just let us know before buying.
